Background Audio – News Shows

While I’m not really one to watch the news, having streaming news channels going in the background is a great way to keep immersion going during the day—and adds a bit more vocabulary variety to your daily immersion. Plus, it helps to keep up with new events and new terms as you listen.

Below are a list of news shows you can check out online and throw on to have playing in the background.

News Channels from Taiwan

Taiwan Formosa News (台灣民視新聞) has a live stream on YouTube, which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxJKnDLYZz4

CTS News (華視新聞) streams on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9uJqP0hT_I

Apple Daily news, which tends to focus more on the sensational or celebrity gossip, can be watched online here: http://www.appledaily.com.tw/

News Channels from China

There’s of course Xinhua which has a great site for watching TV and news, here.

This site takes a little bit of time to load, but they offer a few channels (below the video) that you can watch.

There’s also some from CCTV, but their videos don’t seem to work in Chrome so you may need to use Safari or IE.

What to Look For

If you’re looking for other news, especially live streaming ones, just use the following terms and you’ll likely be able to find something:

直播

zhíbō

live broadcast

新聞 / 新闻

xīnwén

news
